In the medical world there’s a thing called the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (more commonly called HIPAA), which deals mainly with security and privacy restrictions. I’m not going to go into the details here (because they are quite lengthy and a bit confusing), but what HIPAA mean for this blog is that for all of the nursing stories I share, key details such as names, dates, and even sometimes medical details, have been altered to protect the identities of those involved.
