Judas Iscariot’s story always broke my heart. This man had been a disciple of Jesus, one of his closest followers. This same follower ended up being the one to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Judas ended up hanging himself, after being consumed with grief and remorse.
Had Judas ever been a true believer? What happened in his heart, to make him betray the One he loved?
As awful as Judas’ story is, his actions played a vital role in God’s overall plan for the redemption of the world. Jesus knew that Judas would one day betray Him, yet He loved him and taught him as one of His disciples. After all of these years, it never ceases to amaze me, how God can – and does – use even the worst of circumstances for the good of His people.
