Drama Camp

Hi, my name is Hannah, and I’m a theater nerd.

*Silence*  This is the part where you say, “Hi Hannah.”  Like a Dramaphiles Anonymous group or something.  Never mind.

I have been addicted to acting and all things theater since I was six years old.  From an angel in a Christmas pageant to Kate in The Taming of the Shrew, I have enjoyed the theater life.

Monday of this week kicked off the annual Junior/Senior High Summer Drama Camp at my old church.  They’ve been doing this for many moons – since 2006, actually – and ever since I aged out of the camp I’ve missed it dearly.  Those six summers I spent in drama camp were some of the best summers I’ve ever had.

Ahh… so many good memories.  The campers would be practically marking off the days on their calendars, anticipation running sky high.  Rumors would fly around regard which show we would be doing that year – usually someone would leak the information, and so it wasn’t really a secret anymore by the time camp started!

I learned a lot about theater and acting in those camps.  In two weeks we managed to cast, rehearse, and perform a Broadway Jr. show.  Well, it wasn’t always a musical; sometimes non-musicals would be performed as well, since there were a lot of amazing actors who couldn’t sing in tune to save their lives.

Part of me wants to post all about what shows we’ve done right here and now, but then this post would get way too long, and you would get very bored very quickly.  Maybe another time… 😉
